Follow the Eastern Mediterranean Chapter
The Eastern Mediterranean Region Chapter established was during the 2016 Annual Conference in Rome. The chapter is inclusive of the 21 member countries of the WHO designated Eastern Mediterranean Region (Afghanistan, Bahrain, Djibouti, Egypt, Iran (Islamic Republic of), Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Oman, Pakistan, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syrian Arab Republic, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates, Yemen). ISEE is interested in expanding the reach to epidemiologists in these countries and actively recruiting any potential member from these 21 countries.What we do:
- Identifying common environmental health problems
- Developing research methodology for exposure assessment, outcome evaluation, and risk characterization
- Establishing mechanisms for cross-cultural comparisons of environmental risk factors for health problems.
- Promoting research and education in environmental and occupational health

2nd Annual Conference on Climate Change and Health in Arab Region
Several members of the ISEE Eastern Mediterranean (EM) Chapter are involved in organizing the 2nd Conference on Climate Change and Health in the Arab Region (CCHAR-II 2026), which invites researchers, policymakers, ministries, NGOs, and implementation partners to submit abstracts for oral and poster presentations.
CCHAR-II is designed as a regional policy–research platform that convenes academia, government, and international institutions to advance actionable climate–health solutions across the Arab region.
This is not only a conference; it is a space for:
- Evidence translation into policy
- Implementation science and practice
- Cross-sector collaboration
- Regional partnerships and capacity strengthening

International Society for Environmental Epidemiology – Eastern Mediterranean Chapter Leads Climate and Health Awareness Initiative in Jordan
The International Society for Environmental Epidemiology (ISEE) – Eastern Mediterranean Chapter participated in the implementation of a community-based awareness session on the impacts of climate change on health and the indoor environment in Jordan, in coordination with the Queen Rania Center for Environmental Science and Technology of the Jordan University of Science and Technology and Dar Al-Nobalaa Charity Association, through the GeoHealth Hub for Climate Change and Health in the Middle East and North Africa, a project funded by the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH). The activity was conducted in alignment with the National Climate Change Health Adaptation Strategy of Jordan (2024–2033) and targeted members of the local community in Irbid City, Jordan. We sincerely thank Prof. Fayez Abdulla, Chair of the ISEE – Eastern Mediterranean Chapter and Chair of the Queen Rania Center for Environmental Science and Technology, Jordan University of Science and Technology, for his leadership and support. We also acknowledge Hindya O. Al-Maqableh, MS, Program and Project Coordinator of the GeoHealth Hub–MENA, and Eng. Emad Hailat, MS, Teaching Assistant at the Department of Architecture, JUST, for their valuable contributions.
